Half Day Trip with Captain Jon
We had an awesome time with Captain Jon of Black Dog Fishing Charter! Everything needed was supplied. We wanted to catch something that we could eat for dinner. Captain Jon was very knowledgeable and an expert with what to catch and where to fish. We fished for Bonnet Head Shark and caught several of them. What a great experience! Captain Jon filleted the fish and recommended a local restaurant to take the fillets and they battered and cooked it up with sides for dinner. The fish was delicious! An awesome trip with a highly skilled captain that had a great sense of humor! We will definitely book with him again and highly recommend this trip if you want a great day out on the water catching fish!
2 Hour Trip with Captain Jon and His Mates Junior & Trey
We booked this trip to get our kids out fishing on a boat for the first time. They really enjoyed the trip. It took a bit for our daughter to warm up to Junior and Trey but in the end she came around. It was great to have the dogs aboard because they always provided entertainment even during the slow periods when the fish weren’t biting. We caught 4 sharks and a couple whiting on this quick 2hr trip. Captain Jon was fun to talk to and he was great with both kids. He even joked with our 10yr old about his never ending questions. He was a great sport and we all had fun. Maybe next time we will book a longer trip and make it off shore.
2 Hour Shark Trip with Captain Jon
Our family had a great time on our fishing trip. We only had a couple of hours that we could spend doing something exciting on our last day in Hilton Head. I booked the 2 hr shark trip and it did not disappoint! We each actually caught and held sharks. It made for some great pics and even better memories. Captain Jon was very accommodating with our schedule and he never even laughed at us as we ran from the sharks that we reeled in, lol. He was patient and great with the kids:). We didn’t get to meet his dog Trey this time, but we hope to on our next visit.
First Time Trip with Kids
Loved being able to go out for a couple of hours – got kids new to fishing into it without hours and hours on a boat. Plus we caught some fish! Captain was great with the kids and even accommodated one who needed to get off. Lot of fun and look forward to going to deep water next time.

Monster Black Drum
Captain Jon was willing to help us catch multiple species of fish. I am excited to cook one of these fillets for friends back in Nebraska. It was a gorgeous sunset on the ocean from aboard the Black Dog.
